Who Is Kamea? Dance Edition!
Kamea Wilson is an artist that was created to create. She is a Maryland native, who grew up dancing competitively at, E-Street Dance Academy. There, she trained in a variety of style including Jazz, Contemporary Partnering & Floorwork, Modern, Ballet, Tap, and Musical Theatre. While most of her grade school career was at E-Street Dance Academy, she performed often with Harford Dance Theatre. Wilson ventured through Harriet’s Happiest Halloween, The Nutcracker, and The Kinetic Canvas Series during her time with Harford Dance Theatre. Since she was a pre-teen, she fostered a continual desire to bring the art in her brain to the world around her. Wilson also began her sharing her choreographic work at the age of 16.
After graduating from Aberdeen High School, Kamea attended Point Park University where she trained under Jason McDole, Marc Spaulding, Crystal Frazier, Kiki Lucas, and more. She had the privilege of performing in many dance concerts. Wilson has danced the works of choreographers such as Camille A. Brown, Martha Graham, Jess Hendricks, Matthew Neenan, and Martha Nichols, amongst others. In undergrad, she shared choreographic works titled, “Grey”, “Dog & Pony Show”, and “ever Hidden soon Seen”. During summer, Wilson continued to hone her craft as a movement artist. She attended the BODYTraffic Summer Intensive and Bates Dance Festival where she also worked as a Social Media Intern. Kamea took summers to create movement, as well. She choreographed competitive dance solos and returned as Student Choreographer in Kinetic Canvas: Leonardo Davinci (2023). In 2024, she performed as a soloist “Bruised Heel” by T’Ana Selah at the Battery Dance Festival in New York. Kamea Wilson Graduated from Point Park University in April 2025 with her BA in Interdisciplinary Arts with focuses in Dance & Communications.
Upon the completion of her Bachelors degree, Wilson performed in “Ascend: Arts Accelerator” by Kiesha Lalama at the Pittsburgh Playhouse Theatre. Wilson also joined the production of Kinetic Canvas: Edvard Munch in the position of Choreographer. Kamea is an artist that believes in the power of artistic expression, the gathering of people, and creativity sparking the internal and external conversations. Her goal as an artist is to make all things she is apart of as experientially nuanced as possible. She is passionate about art and believes that humanity was designed to be raptured in creativity.
